Meet Laura
Thank you for your interest in getting to know me. I, Laura Epp, am a native Kansan born in Paola and have spent my adult life in Miami County. The foundation of who I am today has been built by my family, friends, and most of all my husband of 20 years, Duane Epp. Together, we share our home with our two teenage daughters, two dogs, two cats, a few chickens and a rooster in rural Paola where we enjoy our time together.
Education is important and something that I continue to pursue to enrich my professional commitment to the public. In 2020, I completed my bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in finance from Baker University to better serve my community and professional future growth. At the time I obtained my degree I was actively raising a young family, volunteering in the community, and working full-time for Miami County residents.
My career with local government started in 2005 with the Sixth Judicial District Community Corrections as the Finance Specialist/Office Coordinator. While in this role, I was able to gain valuable experience in grant writing, budget development and management, as well as working directly with the Clerk's office, Administration, Commissioners, Treasurer, and other departments within the Miami County Government. After 11 years, I transitioned into the Administration office to work with all departments and build a better understanding of County operations. After 18 years in local county government and over 24 years of volunteering with various Miami County organizations, I find myself called to now serve my community in a Leadership role. Those close to me will share that I possess the strong work ethic, loyalty, creativeness, confidence and commitment you are looking for to support as the new Miami County Clerk.
